What is MyoCalc Pro?
If you are treating myopia progression in your practice now, it maybe challenging to explain to patients and parents how effective treatments are in slowing myopia progression.
MyoCalc will help to explain more easily and also reduce consultation time.
MyoCalc is a powerful tool for visualizing the expected progression of myopia or near-sightedness over time.
Myappia© allows for the entry of the patient’s age and initial prescription and then calculates based on several longitudinal studies, the likely progression of myopia over the following 10 years.
The growth curves illustrate the real growth curve of eye length and the corresponding risk. The curve is adapted from the data of Tideman et al. 2018.The patient data in the Pro version is stored and can be accessed at any time. To use the Pro version, you must be a MyopiaCare member.
Become a member.
Myappia© allows you to demonstrate to your patients and parents the likely progression over time with standard glasses and contact lenses as well as with a choice of special myopia control spectacles, low dose atropine, bifocal contact lenses, orthokeratology and custom myopia control contact lenses. There are certain assumptions associated with each treatment choice from studies available and these percentage reductions are used to modify the predicted progression curves.
With Myappia© you can now show parents and patients how their treatment choices may alter their future myopia progression and it will also allow you to assess the success of treatment choices at each follow-up visit. If at a follow-up visit, treatment choice is less effective than expected, a different approach using another method or by combining two different treatments can be advised. The original myopia calculator Myappia© was developed in 2016 by Dr. Thomas Aller as an Android App and sold in Google store.
MyoCalcis an add-on to the Pro Version of Myopia.Care website. It is not an App and is not downloadable. After purchase, the MyoCalc myopia calculators can be accessed in the Myopia.Care once you log on to your account.
